About This Activity

Get ready to explore the exciting world of ceramics! If you're between the ages of 8 and 16 and ready for a hands-on adventure, join the Clay Explorers crew! Guided by an experienced instructor over four fun-filled Saturdays, we'll dive deep into different ceramic techniques, turning raw, soft clay into four incredible, finished projects you get to keep. Your Expedition Checklist (What You'll Create): Adventure Stop 1: The Wobbly Wonders (Bobble Heads!) We'll start by mastering the art of hand-building to create a totally custom Bobble Head. Design a silly creature, a favorite character, or even a mini version of yourself—then give it a super wobbly spring neck! Adventure Stop 2: Secret Storage (Trinket Boxes) Learn the professional secrets of slab construction! You'll measure, cut, and join clay slabs to build a personalized Trinket Box—perfect for hiding treasures and organizing your space. Adventure Stop 3: The Smooth Finish (Slip-Cast Tumblers) Ready for advanced techniques? Get hands-on with liquid clay (slip) to create a perfectly smooth, professional-grade Tumbler using our special molds. We'll show you how to cast your own piece! Adventure Stop 4: Tag Your Territory (Graffiti Name Plates) Time to add some edge and color! We'll show you how to carve, stamp, and use vibrant colors to create a bold, "graffiti-style" Name Plate to tag your bedroom door or wall, then we'll finish all four of your projects with dazzling glazes! By the end of the course, each student will have completed one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces, gaining confidence in their hand building skills and a deeper appreciation for working with clay. This class provides a supportive and inspiring environment where young artists can learn, play, and explore the limitless possibilities of ceramics. Grab your spot on the team! All clay, tools, glazes, and firing costs are included. Keep in mind that clay is messy when selecting your outfit of the day!
