About This Activity
Welcome to Guitar Club with Avery Garrett Wilson! This is a group music class and ensemble open to beginning and intermediate students in 1st-6th grade. Guitar can be a physically demanding instrument to learn. To appropriately meet every student at their stage in development, students in grades 1-3 may attend our first class on a trial basis before signing up. In Guitar Club, our goal is to discover the joys of collaborative music-making while learning the fundamentals of music! Students will receive individual instruction on proper posture, finger, and strumming techniques tailored to their unique needs on their beginning guitar journey. They will explore the music fundamentals: sound, rhythm, melody, and harmony. Students will receive coaching in reading traditional music notation, guitar tablature, and chord charts. Students will be introduced to basic blues chord progressions through exciting improvisation activities. Group Guitar lends us the opportunity to develop core academic and social skills through interactive ensemble playing, and we hope you will join us in exploring the world of music through the guitar!
