About This Activity

Come join in the fun and learn a new language. It will include receptive and expressive use of American Sign Language (ASL). This course will emphasize the basics of ASL, and for students who have taken the course, and any newcomers with experience doing ASL are welcome to attend. There will be a review and some new materials provided to you on the first night of class. ASL will start with reviewing the alphabet, fingerspelling, reviewing and practicing new signs, grammar, both visual and expressive communication, vocabulary (in a group setting), and group activities. There will be some talking and voice-off through the class. The activities will help you learn new skills, review, and practice what you have learned in class. A certificate will be given to those who complete the course. Please bring a folder and a notebook with a colored pen that stands out for writing, or a dry-erase board. Signing Illustrated: The Complete Learning Guide, Paperback – November 2, 2004, by Mickey Flodin, ISBN-10: 039953041X, is the book the instructor will use for class. You may purchase your copy on Amazon for about $13.
