CS+X 'Women in CS' Summer Camp at IMSA is an immersive one-week residential experience for twenty 8th and 9th-grade students in Chicagoland who are interested in learning about women in CS. Led by instructors from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, the camp offers a dynamic, project-based curriculum, meaningful mentorships, and a lasting community-building experience. By showing how CS tools can be used in various fields (X), we can bridge the CS gender gap and nurture the next wave of tech innovators. The CS+X residential program at IMSA, sponsored by Motorola, is for all students, especially those whose backgrounds include populations that have historically been underrepresented in STEM. Students who are female, Latinx/Hispanic, Black, from a rural area, or who have financial challenges qualify as underrepresented and are encouraged to apply. NOTE: THIS IS AN APPLICATION, WHICH DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMITTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM. The application process is competitive and includes an application form, a brief essay and a teacher recommendation. Please be prepared to enter the following information: Teacher name, email address, phone number, and school name. Accepted students must be able to attend the on-campus, residential portion of the program in its entirety from the evening of June 21 - June 26, 2026. Student participation costs for the entire program will be completely covered through the generosity of Motorola, however students will be asked to pay a $50 registration fee upon acceptance to confirm their attendance.
