Create a Lego Rube Goldberg machine! Working in pairs, use a Spike Prime kit to design and construct a device that creatively passes balls to the next team's device, forming a circuit. The activity's emphasis on standardized, modular design develops students' industrial and mechanical engineering skills. The Great Ball Contraption will be presented to parents on the last day of camp. Matthew Milone developed Regents' co-curricular robotics programs and has taught them for the last three semesters. He also tutors math and coaches chess. Growing up, Matthew participated in FIRST robotics competitions throughout middle and high school. Due to FIRST’s emphasis on community outreach, he volunteered for approximately 200 hours of lessons, demonstrations, workshops, and other mentoring activities. After achieving a B.S. in computational mathematics from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Matthew was a professional software engineer for three years at First Trust Portfolios.
