About This Activity
Join Maestro Beau Lochte in ringing over 4 octaves of handbells and hand chimes and playing percussion instruments including congas, djembe, bass drum, a gong, and more! This unique opportunity is available to all students who enjoy making music and working together as a team to achieve a common goal. Participants will learn to read handbell music and perform a variety of extended techniques. With each student ringing 2-4 bells, a handbell choir is a truly collaborative experience! Beau Lochte is the artistic director and founder of Charm City Bronze, Baltimore's premier handbell ensemble. He holds a degree in music composition from Towson University and has led several Baltimore area church handbell choirs for over a decade. During the 2024 Spring Semester, he is teaching/co-directing the Gilman Middle and Upper School Handbell Choirs.
