Tuesday, 5:30 - 7:30 PM • 1 week MDI High School Instructor: Adriaan Gerber Discover the art of blacksmithing as you create a functional forged coat hook from raw steel. In this hands-on introductory class, you'll learn basic forging techniques, including heating, shaping, and bending metal at the anvil. No prior experience is necessary. This class is an excellent introduction to blacksmithing and a great foundation for more advanced forging projects. What to Wear: This class will be held outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather and the nature of the work. Closed-toe shoes, non-synthetic clothing, and safety glasses are required. Gloves and hearing protection are optional. About the Instructor: Adriaan is a blacksmith with nearly 20 years of experience. He has taught blacksmithing and traditional craft skills at living history museums throughout the Northeast, including New York, as well as at primitive skills schools and gatherings.
