Saturday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM • 1 week MDI High School Instructor: Adriaan Gerber Spend a full day at the forge creating your own handcrafted knife. Students will learn the fundamentals of bladesmithing, including forging, shaping, beveling, and finishing a functional carbon steel knife. Prior blacksmithing experience is not required; however, participants may find the Hook Workshop to be excellent preparation. By the end of the day, you'll leave with a finished knife and a deeper understanding of traditional forging techniques. What to Wear: This class will be held outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather and the nature of the work. Closed-toe shoes, non-synthetic clothing, and safety glasses are required. Gloves and hearing protection are optional. This is a 5-hour class. Please bring your own lunch, snacks & drinks. About the Instructor: Adriaan is a blacksmith with almost 20 years experience. He has taught classes at living history museums as far away as New York and at various primitive skills schools and gatherings.
