About This Activity

This is our fourth semester running this highly successful program for our first grade students, who will get to perform in the big production of Jungle Book! “First Grade Foundations” is an age-appropriate stepping stone to get students comfortable and confident with the rehearsal and performing process. Your 1st grader will not only have a blast with their peers learning more about performing, but they will gain the tools they need to successfully transition into being in the full production in 2nd grade! See the details below, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. 1st graders will attend their very own rehearsal once per week: Mondays 5:00 - 6:00. Rehearsal Schedule: January 26, February 2, (no rehearsal February 9), February 16, February 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23, (no rehearsal March 30), April 6, April 13, and 20. Each student in Foundations will attend ONE tech rehearsal and will perform in ONE performance of Jungle Book Kids (in 3 musical numbers) the weekend of May 2 - 3. Each student’s specific tech rehearsal date and performance date will be finalized by the end of February. Please reserve April 27 - May 3 for Jungle Book until you receive your child’s specific dates. Students will learn the vocals and choreography to 3 ensemble songs from Jungle Book Kids. In addition to learning the musical numbers, students will learn the basics of performing in a production: how to audition, how rehearsals work, what tracking numbers are, stage directions, entrances and exits, scene work and blocking, and becoming a character. Tuition: $299 Students provide their own costume – families will receive specific links of what to purchase at least one and a half months before the production. Costumes are theirs to keep, and will cost less than $50.
