DESCRIPTION Junior Mountain Biking is for Middle School and High School riders. For recreational riders, from beginner to advanced. Riders are grouped according to skill and endurance levels to focus on further progression. Instructor to rider ratio is 1:6 Each session balances a mix of fun rides, building endurance and skill practice with an emphasis on the following skills from less experienced to more experienced riders: - Position and balance: stability, balancing through a range of movements - Operation of controls: gears and brakes, when, where, and how - Terrain awareness: trail scanning, line choice, decision making, anticipation - Direction control: leaning the bike, rotational body movements - Pressure control: pumping, absorbing A mountain bike is needed to participate in the program; hardtails or full suspension. The bike must be in perfect riding condition. The riders are responsible to bring their own gear too (helmet, knee pads, backpack, etc…). Visit How to Choose a Program for more information. SCHEDULE and LOCATION Riders meet directly at Trail Heads. The first three sessions start from Phil’s TH (lower parking lot) while the last two ones start from the Welcome Center off Century Drive.
