Experiment with a range of photography styles and techniques from landscapes and portraits to photomontage and collage. A series of projects will offer opportunities to learn the technical and conceptual aspects of photography. We’ll cover framing and composition and spend time at Kala’s digital lab for an introduction to photo editing and printing. We’ll seek inspiration from the world around us and discuss artists and activists who use the camera as their unique creative tool. We’ll head outdoors for “photo walks,” to observe and capture the local landscape. For this class, participants will need a digital camera, either a point-and-shoot camera or a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera with photography modes and exposure settings. Make sure you have a memory card, battery, and charger. If you need access to a digital camera, Kala has a limited number for class use. Please contact youtharts@kala.org in advance to ensure availability.
