Venture out in a peddle boat on Lake Merritt, the oldest wildlife refuge in the U.S., and observe the creatures that call this amazing tidal-lake-estuary their home. Test water quality and plankton samples, and contribute to an ongoing scientific database monitoring the health of the lake habitat. Learn special languages and behaviors that help identify the various birds of Tilden Park. Discover how our human actions can impact the animal structures around us. Make environmentally-friendly natural pesticides to bring home and share with family, friends, and neighbors to help promote bay-friendly gardening habitat practices.
