Puppies require consistent training and guidance to grow into well-behaved dogs. This class focuses on building a positive owner-puppy relationship through structured practice and responsible ownership. Owners must maintain the puppy’s health, attend at least six classes with an AKC-approved CGC evaluator, and follow responsible care practices. Puppies will learn basic manners, leash skills, social tolerance with people and dogs, handling for grooming, and simple commands such as sit, down, come, and stay. Homework and regular practice are essential—this course provides guidance, tools, and techniques, but success depends on the owner’s commitment. At the conclusion of this six week class, the owner and puppy will be given the application to send to AKC for the certificate. Please bring poop bags, a flat buckle or martingale collar, or harness. Water dishes will need a towel under them and the owner is responsible for all puddles, water or waste. Bring plenty of treats, more than you expect is the correct amount. High value treats such as chunks of deli turkey and cheese work best. Puppies will be 12-16 weeks old at the beginning of class and will need to provide age appropriate vaccinations to the instructor before attending. 6 weeks.
