2026 YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE - 9-12 YEARSDribble, shoot, score! Learn the basics of the game of basketball and practice teamwork and good sportsmanship in this basketball learning league! Teams will be based on schools and ages, and requests will NOT be honored. This is a basic skills league for beginners to learn the concept of the game, and to build on skills previously learned while adding to their basketball knowledge. Scores will not be kept in either division. Referees will be used; however, they will call games loosely.
This is a 9-week league that meets on Saturdays, starting January 9 through March 6. Teams will meet at either 9:00am, 10:15am, OR 11:30am each Saturday. Teams' schedules will fluctuate weekly so be sure to block off both times in your calendar. The first three weeks will be one-hour practices, and the last six weeks will be 20-min practices followed by 40-min games. Once teams are assigned, your coach will let you know what time to attend each week.
Additional registrations will be accepted depending on team availability. As more players are added to the waitlist, league staff will be in touch if there are enough players on the waitlist to create additional teams. If the league is shown as full, please add your name to the waitlist for the best chance to play.
Program Shirts: Bettendorf Parks & Rec Jersey is required and may be added to your cart during registration. The jersey is a reversible, two-color mesh that may be used for all Bettendorf Parks and Recreation programs. Cost is $25.

We understand parents are busy, so we try our best to make volunteer coaching easy and convenient!
Simply review the details of Head Coach and Assistant Coach and then indicate during registration if you would like to take on one of those roles this season! A coaches meeting will be held on TBD at the Bettendorf Community Center where you will select your practice day and time, we will go over details about the league, hand out all your coaching materials, and answer any questions. Head Coach Details
- Knowledge of the game recommended but not required.
- Select a practice day and time that works for your schedule.
- Coaches will receive:
- Equipment bag with 3 basketballs, cones, whistle
- Coaching materials - team roster with contact info, rules, general coaching guidelines and expectations, weather hotline information, picture day schedule, website for game schedules
- Materials to hand out to each member of your team - picture day order packets, weather hotline information, website for game schedules
- Practice drill ideas available upon request
- Knowledge of game is helpful but not required
- Ways you can help your head coach:
- Act as an extra set of hands at practices, games, and on picture day
- Player/parent team communication
- Help keep players organized and focused during practices and games
- Manage parent-donated game snack and drink schedule (optional)
