Description
Take on a new challenge this winter with skiing or snowboarding lessons!
In partnership with Snowstar Extreme Sports in Andalusia, IL, Bettendorf Parks & Recreation is offering a Skiing/Snowboarding Clinic for adventure seekers. Ages 7 and up. Each participant will receive four one-hour group lessons from the Snowstar instructors, and all equipment rental is included*! All participants will also receive a SNOWSTAR SEASON PASS (excludes equipment rental and sledding hill)! Season Pass photographs will be taken on the first night of the clinic, and the passes will be available after the first lesson.
THURSDAY SESSION: January 8, 15, 22, and 29
Participants will meet at the Bettendorf Community Center, 2204 Grant Street, and be taken by bus to Snowstar. The bus will depart promptly at 5:15pm and return around 8:30pm. All participants are required to ride our bus to and from Snowstar.
The Snowstar instructors will place participants in groups based on their skill levels. All skill levels are welcome! The lessons will emphasize fundamentals and safety including proper use of equipment, how to use your skis/board, turn and control speed, how to fall and get back up, and more.
*Registrants are welcome to bring their own boards/skis, but all equipment must be inspected by Snowstar staff upon arrival to ensure they meet safety standards. (Boards are required to have continuous metal edges, not plastic, with bindings mounted to the board.) Helmets will also be provided and are required to be worn.
WEATHER CANCELLATION/LESSON RESCHEDULE PROCEDUREIn the event that we have to cancel a lesson because of weather/road conditions, each session will have two reschedule dates. Thursday Session will have the first two THURSDAYS immediately following the clinic as make-up dates if needed (February 5th and 12th).
