Intro to Oil Painting: Grades 8 – 12Instructor: Lindy ShewbridgeOil painting is among one of the oldest and mostpopular forms of making fine art. Oil paint hasa unique set of properties that has made it thepreferred medium for many artists. Learning to useit not only equips young artists with an age-old andversatile medium, but it also helps them to connectto and understand the processes of other artists,past and present. In this class, we will go throughthe process of beginning and working throughan oil painting, learn important techniques andultimately begin understanding the way oil paintbehaves to paint whatever a student imagines.
A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.
