About This Activity

This Program is for off-reserve Indigenous children and is part of the Llika' Wksitqumuk (Walk The Earth Program) that is run in partnership with the Mi'kmaq Family Resource Center. This Summer program is for kids and youth 8 to 14 years old. If you have any questions about this program, please email us at peiwildchild@sierraclub.ca For all of our Summer Camps, participants are first put on our waitlist and then, after review, are registered. This is done to ensure that participants who qualify for this program are able to attend as this program is not open to non- Indigenous Children. Join us this summer as we explore, learn and play in the great outdoors! We will play games, create nature art, and explore the natural spaces of the park. We will build forts and climb trees, learn from Elders and Knowledge keeps, practice bushcraft skills and tool use, and learn about the plants, bugs, animals, and more that call the park their home.  This day camp is in partnership with the Mi'kmaq Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and works to build meaningful connections to nature, it is run with input from Elders and Knowledge keepers and using Forest School principles of child-led, free play, inquiry-based programming.  The pick up and drop off will happen at Mi'Kmaq Family Resource Center (58 St Peters Rd, Charlottetown) where they will meet the bus and be shuttled to the Strathgartney Provincial Park. This site has an indoor washroom facility and water bottle refill station available. Please send your child with a backpack including a full change of clothes, a hearty lunch, a water bottle, and snacks for the morning and afternoon. We are outside all day, rain or shine, so please dress your kids appropriately for the weather! *** Please note this program is running Jun 29 mon, Jun 30 tue, July 1 Wed OFF, July 2 Thur, July 3 Friday.
