This is a camp specifically for girls and gender minority youth (including two-spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse youth) ages 11-15, who are interested in exploring nature and getting hands-on experience with scientists working in the field! If you have any questions about this program, please email us at peiwildchild@sierraclub.ca. The program will take place in Strathgartney Provincial Park, and our days will consist of a range of activities that will involve exploring the park, trying bushcraft skills, playing games and making friends, and trying hands-on science and ecology activities with guest scientists, community members, and experts! We will enjoy activities related to the different ecosystems, birds, animals, plants, bugs and invertebrates, and fungi of the park. Some activities may include critter dipping, tree planting, fire making, birdwatching, mushroom hunting, working with tools, making recipes with foraged plants, and more! This program will take place from Monday August 11 to Thursday August 14th from 9:00am-4:00pm. This Camp takes place at Strathgartney Provincial Park (drop-off and pick-up will take place from the Meridian 63° campground at Strathgartney Park, 17025 Trans Canada Highway, Bonshaw, Prince Edward Island). Participants will have to bring along their own food for the day (lunch, water bottle, morning and afternoon snacks), and dress in clothes suitable for the weather (rain or shine! Dress in layers, and bring an extra set of clothes -especially extra socks!). Extra snacks encouraged! Please fill out this application if you are interested in being considered for the program, or get in touch with us at wildchildadmin@sierraclub.ca for more information or if you have any questions. We will contact you to confirm whether or not you were selected for this program this year. Spaces are limited, so we might not be able to accommodate everyone in this program, but might be able to in future programming!
