Description
For over 50 years, Hill House has run quality athletics programs for children in the Boston area. Starting in September, 2018, Hill House hosted the inaugural BOSTON NFL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE, an officially licensed NFL Flag program. Flag Football is a non-contact version of football, allowing for skill development and fun. All teams and leagues are co-ed and take place on Sunday mornings in Boston from September-November. The league is open to children city-wide and we've welcomed players from all neighborhoods of Boston.The PATRIOTS ROOKIE LEAGUE will be offered for players in KINDERGARTEN through GRADE 1. If your young athlete wants to try football for the first time in a safe and fun environment then this is the perfect league to get started with! We believe that every young player can fall in love with flag football with the right approach. If your child loves tag then they can love flag football! Alongside constant fun, this program will focus on properly teaching the fundamentals and work towards informal gameplay to prepare these new players for competitive teamplay in future seasons. Hill House staff coaches and volunteers will create a fun and supportive environment, exposing players to the basics of both offensive and defensive play. Everyone will receive a reversible New England Patriots NFL Flag jersey to foster a sense of team unity and play scrimmages. "We're all Patriots" in this league!
Season Structure:
- Each week players will practice together as they learn flag football through different fun drills large and small groups.
- As the season goes on we will teach more gameplay focused concepts and start scrimmaging each other in smaller groups where every player is guaranteed to touch the ball and have a chance to score.
- By the end of the season we'll run more formal scrimmages to give all players even more chances to show what they've learned while having fun!
- The last session will end with a quick award ceremony for everyone.
Equipment:
- Players will all receive a reversible PATRIOTS NFL team branded jersey and an NFL flag belt to keep.
- Players should also opt to wear sneakers over cleats for this turf field. If players opt to wear cleats then they should be non-metal cleats.
- Mouth guards are encouraged but not required.
- Our jerseys are Youth Small for this league (please leave a note in the registration page if you require a larger size).
Notes on Awards:This league will feature fun participation trophies for all players at the end of our last session. We hope all players return for future seasons and graduate to playing in our older more competitive leagues! We won't have participation trophies in the older leagues but we're confident players will have fun competing to win the championship and a few individual league awards if they choose to keep playing!

Important guidelines and notes for this season:
- Families are expected to have a guardian or caretaker remain on-site.
- If families need to leave then they MUST CHECK-IN with Hill House Staff when dropping off, and SIGN-OUT when picking up.
- We are unfortunately unable to provide individual make-up classes if the participant is absent.
- An administrative fee ($20) may be applied for withdrawal requests after the start of the season.
- All Hill House families are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct—treating our staff, volunteers, and other families with respect. Violations will be reported, and multiple violations may result in action, including removal from programs.
