About This Activity

Description

Hill House's renowned in-house fall soccer leagues give players the opportunity to play soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun, teamwork, and skill-building at a level that fits his or her interest and ability.

Please consider registering your 1st grader for MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER or NATIONAL GIRLS LEAGUE SOCCER if you feel they're more advanced and ready for more formal competition on a much bigger field! Players are also welcome to play in more than one league at a discount if they'd like to try playing up!

World Cup Soccer Structure:

  • Practice from 5:15-5:45pm or 5:45-6:15pm on Tuesdays at the Boston Common.
  • Practice time based on team assignment.
  • Same practice time for the whole season.
  • *Practice will run from 5:15-6:15pm for eveyone if there are less than 6 teams.
  • Games at either 8:30 or 9:30am on Saturdays.
  • Game times will rotate.
  • Teams should have roughly the same number of games at each time.
  • *Games will run at just 9:30am for eveyone if there are less than 6 teams.
  • Season Schedule and team assignments will be distributed before the season starts.

Game Structure:

  • Co-ed teams are created and led by Hill House staff and parent volunteers.
  • If any families still have an interest in helping as a volunteer coach, then please reach out to us to learn more.
  • Each team is scheduled to play each other at least once during the season.
  • Game times vary from week to week. Your game will either start at 8:30am or 9:30am.
  • Teams will split up to play two simultaneous games against their opponent (allowing more playing time and touches).
  • Ex. Spain will play Brazil on BOTH field A and field B.
  • Games are four 8-minute quarters with water breaks.
  • Every player will receive a fun participation trophy during the last session to celebrate the end of the season.

Equipment:
  • Players will all receive team jerseys based on traditional World Cup Soccer teams/nations.
  • Players should wear shin guards and cleats for practice and games.
  • Our jerseys are Youth Small for this league (please leave a note in the registration page if you require a larger size).

Please read the notes on this page carefully, and email jking@hillhouseboston.org if you have any questions before the season starts, or if you register less than a week before the program begins.
