Our Wilderness Survival afterschool program invites young adventurers to build essential outdoor skills through hands-on activities, team games, and creative challenges—all while exploring the natural world around them. Designed for students in grades 1–4, this engaging series helps children grow their confidence, problem-solving, and resilience in an age-appropriate, supportive setting. Each week, we explore a new survival-themed adventure. Participants will dive into topics like: Leave No Trace ethics: learning how to protect wild spaces with fun, movement-based games. Shelter building: practicing knots, construction techniques, and testing shelters against the elements. Navigation & orienteering: discovering how to read maps, use compasses, and follow bearings through real-world exploration. Fire safety & mock fire building: understanding the fire triangle, ingredients for a safe fire, and trying a bow drill. Basic first aid & survival scenarios: developing calm responses to challenges through age-appropriate first aid practice and group problem-solving. This program encourages curiosity, teamwork, and outdoor comfort—all while having a blast outdoors! No prior experience is needed. Just bring your sense of adventure.
