About This Activity

On Wednesdays, our Bluejays group gathers to explore the land, reconnect with friends, and grow together in a supportive learning community. Children ages 5–12 benefit from learning alongside peers of varying ages, building friendships while practicing mentorship, teamwork, and collaboration. Students engage in Kiva’s Adventure Quest skill tracks, exploring areas such as land awareness, herbalism, fire building, shelter construction, and nature crafts through hands-on projects and play-based discovery. Activities are adapted to meet children at their developmental stage, allowing younger students to build foundational skills while older students deepen their understanding through practice and problem-solving. Each day follows a balanced rhythm of community circle, exploration, project time, service on the land, free play, and reflection. Children are welcome to enroll in any number of days, and each day offers a unique experience shaped by the interests of the group and the skills and passions of the mentoring team. Each semester includes a weekend adventure day, shared with the middle-age group. In the spring, students ages 10–12 in this group are also invited to continue the adventure into the overnight camping experience alongside the middle-age group. Thanksgiving Break: week of 11/23/26 Winter Break: We will have 5 weeks off for winter break starting on 12/21/26 and returning on 1/25/27 Spring Break: week of 3/15/27
