Super Duper Science It's a science smorgasbord! To start off our week, we’ll leap into outer space and travel around the solar system as we learn about Mars' rovers, how craters were formed on the moon and the renewable energy of the sun. Biology and ecology will intersect and lead us to examining and growing flowers and the life and role of worms in composting. We'll explore the magic behind chemical and physical reactions as we make elephant toothpaste and tarnish a copper penny. The properties of water, light and color will help us understand the fragility of bubbles as we make our own bubble wands. As geologists, we'll investigate the rock cycle through melted crayons, study how crystals form, and observe how weather and erosion affect the planet. Next up, we'll explore tectonic plates and earthquakes, while trying our hand at creating quake-proof structures. Finally, as physicists, we'll explore matter, energy and magnets, as we create centrifugal art. This camp offers a great introduction to a variety of STEM fields. Amazing Human Body Humans begin as a single cell and over the course of their lifespan, grow into a being with more than 37 trillion cells capable of accomplishing so many astonishing things! Join this week-long, in-depth journey into the body, investigating the ways the body adapts to its environment and grows to not only survive, but thrive. We’ll test the senses and see how experiences shape the body as well as the mind. Learn about the support of the skeleton and the strength of its muscles through various experiments and physical activities as we discover how blood flows through our heart and keeps our bodies moving. We'll explore nutrition and learn how the foods we choose affect our overall health and help our bodies fight off disease, keeping us healthy. If you want to take an exciting, hands-on approach to learning about the wonders of the human body, this camp is for you!
