In this class, we will cover various styles and methods of creating detailed colored pencil artwork. Nature subjects such as birds and feathers or colorful plants and flowers will be our inspiration for learning the drawing techniques. Layering, blending, and shading with colored pencils will be demonstrated. And, tools, materials, paper selection plus color choices will be reviewed. Art samples using colored pencils combined with, graphite, ink and pastels will also be shown as examples of the versatility of these pencils with other media. Two different pieces of quality artist paper will be given to each participant. One sheet will be white and the other a toned color. Instructor will have copies available of outline drawings and detailed reference photographs created for her classes. Participants can use these templates or bring their own sketches and reference materials to experiment learning the techniques. Some drawing experience is helpful; however, all skill levels are welcome. A set of 12 or more Prismacolors Premier Colored Pencils are recommended (or similar fine artist quality pencils) to achieve rich color saturation and blending. Join us to explore some of the possibilities of this fun medium! This class is for adults, but welcomes mature students aged 15+.
