About This Activity

Overnight Speed Event Themed Camp 1-June 27th & 28th Instructor: Amy Prechter Time: 9am June 27th (Thurs) through 5pm June 28th (Fri) A great opportunity for parents to take a night off and leave their horse crazy kid with us for a fun filled supervised horse and tent camping experience. Campers will spend time on the ground and in the saddle doing warm ups, techniques/styles and introduce new exercises and pattern work to help in their speed events on day 1 and on day 2 will participate in a review, followed by a fun friendly timed event competition. Each run will be videoed and available for campers to review and discuss with the instructor. We will also spend time discussing participants goals and developing a plan to meet these goals in a fun equine guided learning & team building activity. Riders must be confident in their riding skills (walk, trot and lope/canter independently) and they should own their own horse/leased horse available, however there will be a limited number of lessons horses available for students with CRE instructor approval. Haul in horses will be welcome (please ask us for additional info.) Campers will enjoy a visit from a local area equine veterinarian that will present information on equine first aid, followed by a question and answer session. Campers will be in charge of taking care of their own/assigned horse both days including feeding, pen cleaning, evening checks etc. Local Bozeman artist Allison McGree will teach a step by step, equine themed painting session, each participant will take home a finished acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Evening activities will include dinner, horse movie on the big screen projector outside, country western line dancing lessons, s’mores and more. Participants will receive a water bottle, camp sweatshirt and journal. Participants will need to pack a lunch the first day, we will provide dinner, breakfast, lunch the following day and snacks throughout the entire camp.
