About This Activity
Elementary Literature Class with Miss Melissa 12 weeks from Aug. 18-Nov. 10th. No Class on Labor Day, Sept. 1st In this class we will read literature, study the theme and type of writing, study the illustrations, and do an activity that goes along with the book(s) for that week. Each week will have different literature. Throughout the semester, I will be reading aloud The Mouse and The Motorcyle by Beverly Cleary in addition to the particular books we are studying that week. I will also assign reading homework each week from Charlotte's Web by E. B. White. This homework can by read by the student, the parent, or audiobook. Literature that will be studied in class: *Splat the Cat *Love That Dog *Click, Clack Moo (and others similar) *Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus (and others similar) *Bad Case of the Stripes (and others similar) *Harold and the Purple Crayon *The Giving Tree *Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day *Brown Bear, Brown Bear (and others similar) *Corduroy Bio: Hi! I am Melissa Joiner. I am a Christian. I have a degree in Elementary Education. I taught for 5 years in public and Christian schools prior to homeschooling my 3 children. I have been homeschooling since 2012. My oldest daugher graduated from HEAT in 2024. I love all things music, flamingos, creating things (crocheting, sewing, and puzzles), and tacos.
