About This Activity
Competitive basketball season is for homeschool girls and boys in 4th-8th grades. We can have co-ed teams or if we have enough interest and available coaches we can have separate teams for boys and girls. We will need coaches for a girls' team if we have enough teams to have a separate team. Otherwise we will have co-ed teams. Saladino Park 1705 Bryan Rd. Brandon, FL 33511 Clinic (open to all, get warmed up for tryouts) Monday, 3/2 3:00-4:30 PM Tryouts Tuesday, 3/3 3:00-4:30 PM Thursday 3/5 3:00-4:30 PM Practices Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-4:30 PM at Saladino Park until games begin. The game schedule will be out by early March NOTE: Practice times may be tweaked based on coaching availability. We can't have teams if we do not have coaches available! Once games start, practice will be Mondays and Thursdays 3-4:30pm. The game season typically lasts 4-5 weeks with 5-7 games. There may be another 1-3 games at the end of the season if our teams make it to the championship games. Games will start late March. Games will usually be on Tuesdays and Fridays with Monday and Thursday games possible. The JV team plays games at 3:30pm and the varsity team plays games at 4:30pm. Players arrive 30 minutes before the game to warm up. 4th-6th grades will play on the JV team and 7th-8th grades will play on the varsity team according to league rules. Players should bring plenty of water (much more than a 20 oz. bottle). We practice at an outside court at the park. If you bring a basketball, please write your name on it. Season fees are $200 per player and jerseys are $35. Basketball will use the same jersey as soccer and flag football and it the same jersey used last year if your child played. These fees will be due after tryouts and will be set up as direct pay SUFS is you are on that scholarship. These are competitive teams and play time will not be equal or guaranteed at every game.
