About This Activity
*Music classes are purposely twice a week so a concept can be introduced and then built on for better retention. Mondays and Wednesdays 2 classes per week 3-3:30pm- Preschool (3-4 years) 3:30-4:00pm- Kindergarten (must be 5 years old in order to use PEP and UA funds) 4:00-4:30pm-1st graders 4:30-5:00pm-2nd graders 5:00-5:30pm- 3rd graders *Preschool and Kindergarten music classes will incorporate the use of fun manipulatives such as finger and hand puppets, felt boards, scarves, parachutes, simple classroom instruments to aid in teaching steady beat/rhythm, music-focused books, circle games, and lots of singing! *1st grade music class will utilize all of the above but also begin to learn simple musical notes, terms, and how to read rhythms! *2nd grade music class will do a lot of dancing, moving, singing, playing games, learning musical terminology, and acting out songs! *3rd grade music class will learn to play the recorder after they learn to read the musical staff through creative learning techniques and games! Music with Nona Lisa (Lisa Westcott) is registered with Step Up, under PEP and UA, as a homeschool direct provider in order that parents may use their scholarships for her fun and engaging music classes that will rival any public or private school music curriculum! It is encouraged that you plan to register for both fall and spring sessions, because a full year of music curriculum will span both semesters, just like in a traditional school! All classes will run for 12 week sessions. Fall session is August 18-November 19. $370 for 2 classes a week for 12 weeks. Nona Lisa (Lisa Westcott) has over 35 years of experience, teaching music classes, drama, voice, and bible study to children ages 3 to 18, as an elementary and upper grades music specialist in both Connecticut and Florida. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in K-12 music education from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT.
