Kinder/1st Math with Ms. Hannah This class is offered semester by semester, with the Spring semester building on concepts learned in the Fall. While both semesters are separate and you can take one and not the other, please consider the skill progression to ensure the class is a good fit. This class will meet once a week for 1 hour. **My math classes are designed to be consecutive so each class will build onto the next for a smooth transition. Kinder/1st Math will prepare them for the next class (2nd/3rd Math). In the Fall we will work toward mastering the following: 1. Count objects to find out how many there are and put them in order. 2. Understand how addition and subtraction are connected to counting. 3. Measure, compare, and sort objects by size, shape, and other features. In the Spring we will work toward mastering the following: 4. Understand that numbers have place values, with tens and ones in two-digit numbers. 5. Build a stronger understanding of addition and subtraction and how they relate to each other. 6. Learn to measure objects, understand money, and tell time. 7. Recognize, build, and break apart different shapes. MATERIALS NEEDED: • 1 SUBJECT NOTEBOOK (NOT A COMPOSITION BOOK OR BINDER) • PENCIL We will utilize an interactive notebook that they will add work to for each class meeting. This way they have notes and examples to take home. This will also encourage more organization and follow through with their work. CLASS DONATION LIST (not required): • GLUE STICKS • PENCILS • CRAYONS • SCENT FREE SANITIZING WIPES • COPY PAPER BIO: Graduate of NOVA Southeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
