Carpentry and More with Ms. Hannah OFFERED AT 11:30AM AND 12:45--the topics covered will be the same for each class. This class is all about learning the basics of common tools while being creative and having fun along the way. Students will learn how and when to use certain tools as well as ways to complete simple household repairs, think drywall repairs, how to hang a picture, etc.…. the essentials that will help them be more prepared for real life problems and solutions. Additionally, they will be able to embrace their creative side by assembling and crafting original pieces that will (hopefully) end up on the walls or counters of your home. One of the goals is to help them take pride in their work and see how their creation can stand the test of time and remind them of the skills learned in class. **WE WILL BE USING POWER TOOLS, TRADITIONAL TOOLS, AND PAINT/STAIN. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT COME TO CLASS IN CLOTHING THAT CANNOT (POTENTIALLY) GET STAINED/DIRTY. ADDITIONALLY, STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR CLOSED TOED SHOES. MATERIALS NEEDED: • EYE PROTECTION (NOT SCIENCE GOGGLES) • GLOVES (I HAVE SOME ON HAND, BUT THEY ARE A LAST RESORT AS THEY WERE NOT MADE FOR KIDS) CLASS DONATION LIST (not required): Each semester I add more and more tools to my collection. The goal is to have enough for each student to have their own to use in class. If you have any of the following at home that you no longer need or use, please consider donating them. • LEVEL • BATTERY POWERED DRILL • HAMMER (SMALLER IS PREFERRED—SOME OF THEM CANNOT CONTROL A FULL- SIZED HAMMER) • SCREW DRIVERS • CLAMPS • WOOD
