About This Activity
Take your skills up a notch, get valuable training, and spend an unforgettable summer forging friendships as part of a team! CIT's live in cabins with campers and other Counselor's where they learn valuable skill on group management as well as wilderness skills. CIT's must attend camp for a minimum of four consecutive weeks. The first week is spent facilitating and shadowing staff and peers while the second week is spent facilitating with the Forest Overnight Camp. CIT's participate in the pre-day game plan with staff which allows teens to begin developing an awareness for both curriculum design as well as the need for improvisation, making last minute changes due to things like weather or new opportunities. CIT's participate in all aspects of camp life with their cabins (activities, meals, overnight). With the support of Instructors, CIT's will play dual roles; both as participants, practicing skills with the group, and as assistants, being called upon to lead activities. This position is highly recommended for anyone interested in becoming an Instructor in the future. CIT spots are open to anyone, although preference is given to former campers in filled weeks. CITs participate in a solo overnight experience where they take care of all their own needs over a 24hr period under expert supervision. The week for CIT's begins with drop-off on Sunday, and lasts through pick-up on the appropriate Saturday.
