This exciting two-day workshop is an excellent opportunity for student actors with musical theatre experience to fine-tune their musical theatre audition. You will learn how to act out your song and how to learn audition choreography on the spot with confidence in a safe and supporting environment with professional teaching artists. Your song has a compelling story to tell, and this workshop will help you to present that story clearly to casting directors. The focus is on script analysis, how to break down lyrics, find the story of their song, as well as listening to and giving constructive feedback to classmates. Students will work on two songs; one they already know and one new song they will be given. Also, learning choreography is an important and sometimes intimidating part of the musical theatre experience. Become fearless in two sessions! Students will be given techniques for creating a character and sharing the story through movement, learning dances quickly, and replacing panic with FUN! Bring in your song’s sheet music (16 to 32 bars) and please wear clothes that allow freedom of movement and either sneakers or dance shoes (if you have them). No sandals, open-toed shoes, or crop tops, please. Please also remember a water bottle and a pencil/notebook. Pack a lunch and bring your water bottle.
