About This Activity
5 weeks Level: Beginner Learn the basics of bookmaking in this class! Students will learn how to make a variety of bookforms and learn a variety of bookbinding techniques to make their own, original, handmade artist books. Techniques included in the course are folded books (accordion books, zines, cards), books using glue, and basic sewn books (pamphlet, stab binding). Students will learn to create text blocks, learn how to cover boards to make covers with bookcloth, textiles, and paper, as well as experiment with altered book techniques and collage. Students will make dummy books, journals, books from prints, and artist books. For intensive session classes (4-5 weeks), registration remains open until the second class meeting. Missed classes are not eligible for refunds or prorated tuition.
