About This Activity

Thursday Afternoon Kids and Teens Class: Handbuilding and Wheel Throwing ages 8-12 years Instructor:  Emily Barrow https://feetofclaypottery.com/artists/emily-barrow/ May 16 - June 6 Thursdays 4-6:30pm 4 sessions Cost: $150 This class will be taught by Emily Barrow who has been teaching kids for 5 years and loves helping others pursue their passions for pottery! Sean O'Donnell, a local librarian and ceramic artist, will be assisting. This class is an all-level pottery class for teens ages 10-14. For beginning students Emily will focus on the fundamentals of wheel throwing. In class, students will learn how to throw cylinders, bowls, plates, and vases! For those teens that have more experience in clay and know what they would like to focus on, the class is less structured in order to give the student independence as they work through their particular vision in clay. Kat will be present for questions and for structural advice and technique, as well as for advanced demonstrations. The kids class at Feet of Clay will give the young inspired ceramicist an inside look at a working pottery studio and its many working artists. This program is great for young potters looking to develop more skills outside of a school setting. Classes include clay, firing, and instruction. Used tools and a bucket will be provided with class. If you would like your own new tool kit, you can purchase one with registration for $25.
