About This Activity
Dates: TUESDAYS, February 6, 13, 27; March 5, 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16; May 7, 14, 21, 28; June 4, 11, 18 (Skip Dates: 2/20, 4/23, 4/30) Get ready to dive into the rich and deep world of textiles with this hands-on class. In the Textile Arts Center’s after-school program, we will explore tapestry weaving, and bead weaving, as well as combine skills like embroidery and hand sewing. Projects may span between 2-4 sessions, providing ample time for in-depth exploration of techniques and ideas. Each project will be introduced along with a specific artist or arts genre as a jumping-off point for inspiration! We will ask ourselves: are we excited by how the artwork looks? The technique used to make it? How did the artists feel while they made it? How it made other people feel when they experienced the artwork? These questions will act as guidelines to foster a thoughtful creative process that celebrates students’ unique experiences and perspectives as we explore the wonderful world of textiles. Join the BNS Textile Arts Center’s Off-Site After School program, we will explore tapestry weaving, and bead weaving, as well as combine skills like embroidery and hand sewing.
