College Prep Workshop This workshop is specifically designed for rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are interested in applying to pre-college and college performing arts programs, as well as other scholarship opportunities that require auditions. Participants will receive guidance on choosing monologues and songs for their auditions, as well as 1-on-1 and group instruction to build a solid understanding of the fundamentals of acting, using character, objectives, and tactics to create a strong performance of their material. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will all be working towards different goals tailored to their age group, but every student in this class will film and submit an audition for the YoungArts Competition, more information available at: https://youngarts.org/about/ and Seniors will also film their college pre-screen videos as part of the class. Because of the spread-out nature of the college audition process, the class will be split into a material selection day on Wednesday, June 17th, then 2 main parts throughout Summer, Fall, & Winter: Part 1 (Material Selection, Memorization, Performance Skills, & Audition Filming): Wednesday mornings in August, then Friday evenings in September and October Part 2 (Preparing for Live Auditions): Friday evenings in December and January The class ends with a final sharing of student work for friends and family at BCT.
