Kids Learn to Play Hockey is a beginner program designed specifically for skaters ages 6-12 yo who are new to hockey. We focus on making every session fun while teaching essential skills including skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. We rotate kids through 5-stations and end each session with fun games. Hockey equipment is necessary for all participants to ensure safety on the ice. A limited number of helmets, skates, and sticks are available for use in this program.Required EquipmentMandatory Protective gear
- Helmet: Must include a full face mask or cage.
- Neck laceration protection guard: A mandatory piece of protection for youth players.
- Mouthguard: Required for certain age groups, typically those 12U and older.
- Shoulder pads: Provide protection for the shoulders and chest.
- Elbow pads: Offer padding for the elbows.
- Shin guards: Protect the shins and knees. They should be the correct length and fit over the skates.
- Jock or jill: A protective cup (jock for boys, jill for girls)
Clothing and equipment
- Skates: Ice skates designed for hockey.
- Hockey pants: Padded pants specifically designed for the sport.
- Gloves: Protect the hands.
- Hockey stick: The correct length is often one that reaches the player's chin when standing on skates.
- Hockey socks: These are worn over the shin guards.
