We provide services for children and adolescents with autism and related disorders, targeting socially significant behavior, or skills and behaviors important to an individual’s everyday life. Our programs are based in Applied Behavior Analysis, which is a science of behavior and is a proven approach to increasing positive outcomes for individuals with autism and related disorders. At Ascendigo we use naturalistic approaches, meaning we use a child’s interests, preferences, and strengths to support in learning new skills and behaviors during everyday activities (e.g. play, leisure, daily routines). To make sufficient progress, a minimum of 10-30 hours of services are typically recommended per week, with dosage of hours being prescribed on an individualized basis per medical necessity. Services are provided primarily at Ascendigo in Carbondale or in the local Carbondale community during our hours of operation, Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM- 6:00 PM. Some sessions may occur at home, school, or via telehealth. In some cases, services can be provided in the school, however, this requires a separate authorization process and is not guaranteed meaning a child may need to be pulled from school to receive medically necessary services.
