About This Activity
Lights, camera, animate! In this hands-on workshop, students step into the director’s chair to bring their own imaginary worlds to life. Stop-motion is the art of movie magic, creating the illusion of movement by manipulating real-world objects one photo at a time. It requires patience, precision, and a lot of imagination! Campers will dive deep into the creative process, focusing on storytelling, character development, and setting the perfect tone for their films. We will explore three exciting animation styles: sculpting characters for classic Claymation, designing intricate scenes for 2D cutout animation, and mastering the fundamentals with good old-fashioned pencil flip-books. From the initial storyboard to the final shot, students will learn how to transform static objects into moving masterpieces. Join us to tell your story—one frame at a time!
