In a fun, playful, and nurturing environment, Physical Comedy students will develop focus and presence, connect with their fellow actors and the audience, and learn the building blocks of classic physical comedy routines. Physical comedians touch our hearts as well as our funny bones, through the skillful use of their bodies, often without words. We will use techniques of circus, slapstick, clowning, and mime to learn the physical acting techniques to win over an audience that go back to the Commedia Dell’Arte, through the clowns of Shakespeare and Kabuki theater, to the Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Steve Martin, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, and more! There will be 8 classes, though the session's dates allow an extra week for possibly cancellation. We'll present an entertaining showcase during our 8th and final class. Instructor: Joe Reichlin
