About This Activity
OVERVIEW & TEACHING PHILOSOPHY This clinic has been growing in popularity under the direction of Aaron Kavelman. This clinic develops personal skill, technique, interpretation, reading, and showmanship of the participant. Percussionists learn that although they are a separate section in the band, they are also members of the total band. All of the instructors have extensive drum corps, university, and educational setting experience. They are all involved with teaching highly rated drumlines and are motivated to teach young students to advance to higher levels of performance. The clinic is highly energized as a result of the constant progress each student makes. Students choose ONE instrument for the duration of camp: Snare, Bass, Tenor/Quad/Quint Drums, Cymbals, or keyboards (mallet instruments). Keyboard instruments are provided for use by SWC; those participants bring their own mallets. A limited number of drums, carriers, and stands are available for reservation for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact swclinics@swclinics.com to reserve drums if necessary.
