About This Activity
Description
The program will teach young creatives ages 13-18 various aspects of photography, graphic design, film-making, and journalism during an in-person weekend (Saturday) class. We will give them creative assignments to complete for a collective project at the end of the program. This will enable them to share what they have learned and images captured, in the homes or neighborhoods, as we teach them how to perfect their craft. Each week we will meet to engage the participants in lessons and project tasks. During the process, they will learn countless visual arts skills, numerous transferable communication and organizational skills as well as lessons on becoming a future artist, entrepreneur or student seeking to major in the subject in school.
We will touch on interviewing skills, with peers acting as potential client and will also have professionals and volunteers shared their skills, We will also engage the participants in a few current projects, that is part of our on-going curriculum (Behind The Ink, CEA online Blog, Community Free Portrait Studio) which provides an opportunity to showcase their work.
