This camp is for campers who already enjoy Minecraft and want to go beyond playing by learning how to code inside the game. Campers design and build custom mods—changing gameplay, adding features, and creating original experiences within the Minecraft world. Using a specially designed code editor, campers learn Java programming concepts through a combination of drag-and-drop tools and text-based code. Counselors guide campers through structured modding challenges as they experience the satisfaction of seeing their code run inside Minecraft. As the week progresses, campers move from basic ideas to more advanced concepts such as variables, data types, loops, algorithms, and game logic, seeing how their code directly affects gameplay. Throughout the camp, campers test their mods, share them with friends, and build confidence with real programming in a familiar and motivating setting. Recommended for campers who are already comfortable with Minecraft and interested in learning real programming through game modification. Important Requirements: • Campers must already be experienced with Minecraft (this is not a beginner camp). • Campers must have a Minecraft™ account and use Minecraft Java Edition (not Bedrock, Xbox, iPad, or Microsoft Store versions). • A Minecraft: Java Edition account costs $29.99 and must be purchased in advance. • Campers must check in on the first day with their Minecraft login credentials to ensure a smooth start.
