Matilda JR: Spring MainStage Musical (Grades 2nd–8th) Our Main Stage Musical program offers a fast-paced but FUN education in musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting, while working towards a culminating production! Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments f With contemporary music written for young performers, 29+ roles, and lots of opportunities for kids to shine, this is a perfect fit for our RAISE YOUR VOICE season! Students will develop their acting, singing, and dance skills, learn theatrical terminology and etiquette, and build confidence in a safe, encouraging, and challenging environment. All experience levels are welcome! AUDITIONS & CASTING: Everyone who registers and completes the audition process will receive a role, unless scheduling conflicts make participation impossible. Our first classes will focus on audition preparation, so even students new to theatre can participate confidently. The production may be double cast, but all students will perform in every show. REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES: Rehearsals begin December 8, 2026. We plan to present up to 7 performances at Belmont Arts Collaborative, April 16–24. IMPORTANT: Do NOT register if you have conflicts with more than 2 rehearsal dates or ANY mandatory tech rehearsals or performances. All conflicts must be provided before auditions.
