Have you ever wondered how to create unique, expressive hand-painted patterns? This class will introduce you to the world of pattern design through draw-and-paint journaling. The pattern illustrator imagines and develops patterns that are applied to fabric, tiles, wallpaper, and other products that call for decoration. This fun course shows you where to look for inspiration for your very own pattern designs by capturing and blending elements of everyday life, whether found in nature, print, or digital media, from cherished personal items or historical treasures. You will acquire the skills necessary to create effective design blocks, comprehend seamless patterns, and use gridded and step-and-repeat styles. Acrylic, gouache, and watercolor paints in a range of hues are used to create patterns. We'll investigate color mixing, flat opaque painting, and texturing. Young artists will gain an understanding of product surface design and produce exquisite design pages in their own surface pattern idea book for art inspiration.
