Explore the beauty of animals and the natural world through drawing and watercolor painting in this teen-focused studio class. Students will work from photographic references and observation to create expressive paintings of animals, plants, insects, shells, feathers, and other natural forms. Emphasis will be placed on sketching, color mixing, layering, and mark-making to capture texture, detail, and atmosphere. Teens will experiment with scale, creating both close-up studies and small and large compositions while learning how proportion, cropping, and composition impact visual storytelling. This class encourages careful observation, creative interpretation, and developing confidence in watercolor techniques while building a cohesive series of nature-inspired artworks.
