Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers recreational youth cheer for ages 5 - 10. This program focuses on enhancing each youth's knowledge and skill level on the field while providing a positive sports experience emphasizing sportsmanship, and fun.Age as of July 31, 2025 determines eligibility/age group. Once registration ends, athletic staff will provide practice start dates. Leagues are subject to close-out prior to the last day of registration. Leagues may be delayed or cancelled due to an insufficient number of volunteer coaches or game officials.
Coaches set the practice schedules based on their availability and will contact you about their approved practice days and times. Practices and games could take place Monday - Thursday between 5:30pm and 9:30pm.
Team placement requests will not be granted.
Practices for this league could take place at various city or school fields in the Indian River area. Game schedules will be posted online prior to the beginning of the season. Games will take place at various locations city wide.
Cheering uniforms are not required and are not provided by the department: therefore, coaches are allowed to collect funds for the purchase of uniforms in accordance with the uniform price verification process. Uniform price can be up to $85.00.
Cheer and football are considered two separate sports leagues. In the event that siblings are participating in both leagues, there are no guarantees that their teams will be paired together or practice on the same days.
Responsibility/Consent on registration form, refund policy and team placement guidelines are also listed. Refunds are not granted after participants are placed on teams. Team placement requests will not be granted. Leagues may be delayed or cancelled due to an insufficient number of volunteer coaches. Games will take place at various locations city wide.
Due to high demand, registration may fill up prior to the enrollment end date. Please join the waiting list for the area you intend to play in if this occurs.Serves in conjunction with the Youth Football League. Uniform price may be up to $85.
