About This Activity
Description
Nature Origami WeekJoin us at Northwest River Park to celebrate the art of paper folding known as Origami. It's a tradition and art form developed in Japan centuries ago, when paper was first introduced into the region. Its practice has been adopted by many cultures throughout the world, and in Europe it was applied as an effective learning method for Kindergarten students.
Today the act of folding materials is as much a science as it is an art - with applications being used in the medical field, robotics, space exploration, and so on. Even nature itself practices folding techniques - from insect wings to grains of pollen - as an effective way to save space. So come on by the Welcome Center at Northwest River Park and brush up on your folding skills. We'll provide the paper and patterns for your own nature-themed origami creation.
