This lecture will highlight actions that took place on the James River in the area of Dutch Gap, Trent's Reach and Jones Neck from 1862-1865. Among the topics covered will be the Battle of Drewry's Bluff, the Appomattox Raid, the Bermuda Hundred Campaign and the James River Squadron's desperate attempt to break out at Trent's Reach. Learn about some of the lesser-known actions of the war that occurred right in your own backyard. The speaker will be Scott Williams, historian and cartographer. He has helped to preserve, interpret and maintain Civil War sites in the greater Richmond area.
