Come make music with the Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME)! One of our exceptional Teaching Artists will help children develop their love of music-making through singing, dancing, performing on instruments, creating their own music, and playing cooperative music games. Students will develop a variety of musical skills like maintaining a steady beat, performing simple rhythms, using dynamic contrast, and vocally matching pitch. ChiME’s Teaching Artist will simultaneously reinforce Social-Emotional Learning and help students develop non-musical skills like self-confidence, self-expression, communication, active listening, teamwork, and emotional regulation. Students will encounter a wide variety of music ranging from the familiar to the unexpected, and their Teaching Artist will incorporate culturally diverse repertoire consisting of engaging folk songs, nursery rhymes, popular songs, and instrumental music from around the world.
